Procedures for students
Procedure to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities
Procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability
What is the procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability?
Special requirements are recognised as special needs based on student's official request. The application is available in the Masaryk University Information system. The request is approved by the vice-dean of the student's faculty. Following (or preceeding) the request, a meeting between the student and a Teiresias Centre staff member is arranged to discuss the requirements and available service provisions. The interview focuses on the actual impact of student's medical condition on his/her studies. It covers previous experience with services, study habits, behavior in stressful situations etc.
Upon approval by the vice-dean, the service provisions (description of the difficulties as well as a list of reasonable adjustments) are displayed in the Masaryk University Information system. This information is available only to student's teachers and study counsellors.
Necessary documents to provide
- confirmation of the study provision from home institution
- medical report
- report from a pedagogical & counselling centre

All the meassures directly or indirectly related to studies is provided by Teiresias Centre. For example, during any study-related activity the student with special needs has the right to a personal assistant, who will help him/her get to where he/she needs to be and ensure the accessibility of all materials needed. If necessary, this assistant can be available for activities that are not directly related to the disabled student’s studies and the university will share the costs with other subjects that provide personal assistance. For support not related to studies we give the student a list of NGOs that provide support for these purposes.
