FAQ
Student Mobility and Accessibility
I am a student with disabilities. How can I participate in Erasmus+ or another learning mobility programme?
You can read more about the page going abroad. You can also contact your current institution and get in contact with them.
First check which universities have an agreement with your home university. Then, for information about your potential host university, you can search for the university and there you can find information about its Disability Office, services and adjustments, housing and much more. You can also visit the country pages of your host country, to see what is available in terms of regulations, support services and other things.
Are there specific grants for students with disabilities?
Yes there are. In the Erasmus+ Programme there is a separate “inclusion support” (the name might change in the near future) which can cover costs for, for example, the following (list non-exhaustive):
- adapted accommodation
- travel assistance
- medical attendance
- supportive equipment
- adaption of learning material
- an accompanying person
You can read more about these at Going abroad, country pages and see what kind of grants may be available there. Do not forget to apply for the grants well in advance.
How much can these specific grants for students with disabilities cover? What is the maximum?
This grant is based on real-costs, which means that it can potentially cover all the extra costs incurred to support your mobility and make it as inclusive as possible. However, it is important that you ask your institution how much budget they have allocated, how much is still available and agree with them on the exact amount before you go abroad.
Who can help me and support me before, during and after my mobility?
Contact your international office or your inclusion office at your home institution. They are the best informed to help you and support you throughout the process. You can also contact the inclusion and international office of a university you would like to study at (= host institutions). Their contacts can be found at the institutions page.
Are there any student organisations or student representatives that can support/help me in my mobility?
Yes. Get in contact with your local ESN section or student union to ask how they can support/help you:

I cannot find the institution that I am looking for under “Institution”. What can I do?
It may be that the official name of the institution is different in English and the local language. Try to search for the version in the local language, for example Universiteit Gent instead of University of Ghent. If you do not know the name in the local language, try to use the “map search” instead by zooming on the map of Europe to find the institution you are looking for.
All the institutions have been created by using the list from the European Higher Education Area.
I have issues while checking this website through my screen reader / tool, or I want to report an accessibility issue. How can I report them?
