The Erasmus+ program grants a special needs grant. This grant is awarded to students who have a “severe disability card”.

National grants and support services are not transportable abroad when going on a mobility programme.

In the same way as students from Slovakia, international students are eligible for grants and support services in Slovakia. They should contact the coordinator at the Slovak higher education institution of their choice.

Students with fewer opportunities

A student is considered a student with specific needs if they have

a) sensory, physical and multiple disabilities;

b) chronic disease,

c) health impairment,

d) mental illness,

e) with autism or other pervasive developmental disorders,

f) learning disabilities.

Students should contact the coordinator for support of students with specific needs to apply for specific support. The coordinator (with experts, if needed) assesses the needs of students and manages support from the higher education institution for the student. The student brings specific documents, if they are relevant and enabled for assessment.

A student who agrees to evaluate his / her specific needs shall be eligible for support services, in particular:

a) ensuring the possibility of using specific educational means;

b) individual educational approaches, in particular individual teaching of selected subjects for students with sensory disabilities,

c) special conditions for the performance of study duties without reducing the requirements for study performance,

d) individual approach of higher education institution teachers,

e) waiver of tuition fees in justified cases where the duration of the study is longer than the standard length of the relevant study program.
