What is the procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability?
If you have a disability and/or a learning difficulty you can prepare at best your stay in Venice by informing the International Mobility Office and Inclusion Office. You can contact us in person by sending an email to [email protected] and [email protected]
Necessary documents to provide
- A certificate that specifies the type of disability and how it affects the study
- A study plan with the courses you wish to take at Iuav
- A list of your individual needs
Documents must be in English or Italian language.

Adjustments for students with disabilities
Adjustments can be made available for students under certain conditions, based on a needs assessment upon arrival at the University.
What adjustments for studies can be made for students?
- May bring a note taker to educational activities
- May bring a personal assistant to educational activities
- May bring a Sign Language interpreter to the educational activities
- May request to record lectures
- May use a laptop, tablet or iPad during lectures
What adjustments for exams can be made for students?
- May bring a note taker to oral and written exams
- May bring a personal assistant to the exam for practical help at the beginning and end of the exam
- May bring a Sign Language interpreter to oral exams
- May move the exams to the appropriate catch-up exam period within the same exam period
- May take a seat in separate exam room for written exams
- May take more time for the written exam

As part of the initiatives for the inclusion and well-being of students, Università Iuav di Venezia has activated the SAP (sportello di ascolto psicologico, psychological support desk).
The SAP consists of an initial consultation phase to assess the request and provide feedback. Counselling interventions may be followed by psychological support and/or psychotherapy in the short, medium and long term.
