Transportation to the campus
How accessible is the public transportation to the campus?
A great majority of Irish public transports are accessible for people with disabilities.
A vast majority of buses are wheelchair accessible - the driver will lower the ramp and there is a designated area in the bus for wheelchair users.
All trams (LUAS) and platforms are fully wheelchair accessible.
As for the trains (DART), advance booking is essential due to limited wheelchair spaces and larger wheelchairs might not be allowed on board for safety reasons (check the guidelines: https://www.transportforireland.ie/accessibility/wheelchair-accessibility/).
Guide dogs and Assistance dogs are allowed on all TFI services.
The TFI Journey Planner is Ireland’s only door-to-door route planner and the service website also highlights if the mode of transport is wheelchair accessible. If you need to get in touch with an Accessibility Officer, please contact [email protected].

How accessible are the parking facilities of the campus?
Disability blue badge car parking facilities are located throughout the campus.
The blue bay areas are marked on the accessible UCD interactive campus map.
Applicants with permanent mobility impairments should apply to the DDAI (Disability Drivers Association of Ireland) for a disabled parking permit.
A person with a temporary disability can apply for a UCD reduced mobility or temporary car parking permit and may also use the designated parking areas.
The application form is available for download via the link to UCD Estate Services webpage below. Applicants can complete the form themselves with their GP/Consultant. The disc is valid for a period of 3 months. All holders must hold a current and valid UCD Parking Permit for the periods the reduced mobility permit is in place.
Completed applications should be returned to [email protected].
