Procedures for students

Procedure to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities

This institution has not provided information about how to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities.

Procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability

If you think you're eligible for arrangements (during classes and/or during exams) because of a disability/impairment/disorder, please contact a doctor at the SUMPPS (University Department of Preventive Medicine and Health Promotion) before your arrival/registration in order to make an appointment.

In some cases, you may want to contact us before you register, for example:

  • when you need specific care;
  • when it's necessary to change the teaching materials;
  • when you expect to be unable to take part in some activities within the curriculum;
  • when you have questions about the feasibility of your learning path.

Exchange student

  • As an exchange student, you’ll need to prove that you have the disability student status at your home university. You can provide a certificate or an e-mail from the disability officer of your home university. Please contact us as soon as you know that you are coming to UL.
  • You have to make an appointment with a SUMPPS doctor (“médecin du SUMPPS”) to discuss your specific needs.
  • Your disability student status will remain valid for your entire exchange period.

International student

  • The disability officer will create a file for you for which you need to provide the following documents:
    • a completed request form;
    • a certificate from an expert (attending physician, occupational therapist, psychiatrist, ...)
  • Please contact your disability officer to find out which certificates are needed.

All personal information is treated with the utmost confidentiality. The UL officers (doctors, welcome officers...) will not disclose any personal information to others without your explicit consent.

Necessary documents to provide

The student disability department and the SUMPPS doctor will remain involved in your follow-up as part of your personalized support plan. Our reliable service provider, the SISU (School and University Integration Department) can be in charge of the implementation of the arrangements.

- medical and social support
If necessary, the medico-social support department for adults with disabilities offers  daily  assistance  on  campus:  acts  of  daily  living,  specific  support,  rehabilitation, locomotion...
- and support in connecting with companies
SOIP (Orientation and Professional Integration Department) offers help, advice and personalized follow-up in the construction of a professional orientation or integration project (search for internships, jobs and work-study).
