Procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability

This procedure is for our outgoing students. For incoming mobility, please get in touch with Veronika Merklein ([email protected]):

The following documents and the application form have to be handed in at the home institution to prove the recognition of disability. Disabled students (more than 50%) can apply for a deduction at the Department for Student and Academic Affairs: https://www.dieangewandte.at/academic_affairs

Application deadline: Applications can be submitted on an ongoing basis. Applications must be received at the International Office as early as possible before the start of the stay. It is recommended that applications be submitted to the International Office 10 weeks before the start of the stay.

o Application form
o Proof of disability: the participant must provide officially recognized proof of disability (e.g. copy of disability passport, notice of lower degree of disability).
o If no disability passport is available: original medical certificate not older than three months explaining the extent of the disability/illness and its impact on academic mobility.
o Statement of costs: The application must contain a detailed statement of the increased costs, whereby the additional costs indicated must be documented as far as possible (cost estimates, research, etc.).
o A statement of financial support provided by other agencies (if applicable).
o For student mobility, the application must indicate that the total requested costs are greater than the total monthly top-up for students with fewer opportunities for the entire duration of the stay.
