Procedures for students

Procedure to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities

This institution has not provided information about how to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities.

Procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability

The student counsellors are the first point of contact for students with an impairment/disability or chronic condition. They handle the coordination within the study programmes with regard to adjustments for individual students. The examination boards approve changes to the education programme and assessment.

See Chapter 9.2 of the Student Charter for more information on rights, duties and formal procedures. The Student Charter can be found at he Regulations webpage.

The student counsellors can provide more information on whether and which documents are required.

The AHK, like most Higher Education Institutions in the Arts, applies a tailor-made approach, for each of its students. The AHK will try and help students to remove obstacles, in order to be able to study in a fulfilling way. For more information or to apply for additional facilities, please make an appointment with the student counsellor of your (aspired) academy/study programme.
The AHK doesn't have an International relations office, but each academy does have a coordinator internationalisation, who we’d advise you to contact.
General information on student exchange at the AHK can be found at the AHK website.

This institution has not provided information about if the procedure applies for both local and international students

Adjustments for students with disabilities

  • May use a laptop, tablet or iPad during lectures
  • May use elevators and other access facilities on campus
  • May bring a personal assistant to the exam for practical help at the beginning and end of the exam
  • May bring a Sign Language interpreter to oral exams
  • May use a laptop, tablet or iPad with standard software during exams

Please don't feel discouraged by the few adjustment options that are selected above. That's because adjustments options vary from programme to programme, depending on their specific nature and requirements, but the AHK is happy to work with students on how best to follow their studies and make adjustments accordingly.
The AHK provides access to Student Counsellors, an AHK Student Coach and literacy support software. In addition, each academy/study program has its own facilities and possibilities for adjustments, including adjustments to physical and digital accessibility, adjustments to the education programme and exams. Adjustments for exams may include: using literacy support software, being given more time, making an exam in a quiet place and taking exams in another form (for example orally in stead of written).
For more information, check the website of your (aspired) academy or contact its student counsellor.
