Procedures for students

Procedure to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities

This institution has not provided information about how to be recognised as a student with fewer opportunities.

Procedure to be recognised as a student with a disability

If you think you're eligible for accommodations (during classes and/or during exams) because of an impairment/disorder, please contact the disability officer before October 15th (for the 1st semester) or before March 21st (for the 2nd semester).

Students with a learning disorder (dyslexia/dyscalculia) need to contact the disability officer before October 10th, in case you need to be retested.

In some cases you may want to contact us before you register, for example:

  • when you need specific care;
  • when it's necessary to change the infrastructure of the campus;
  • when it's necessary to change the teaching materials;
  • when you expect to be unable to take part in some activities within the curriculum;
  • when you have questions about the feasibility of your learning path.

Exchange student

  • As an exchange student, you’ll need to prove that you have the disability student status at your home university. You can provide a certificate or an e-mail from the disability officer of your home university. Please contact us as soon as you know that you are coming to Odisee.
  • You have to make an appointment with the disability officer to discuss the impact of your disability and your specific needs.
  • Your disability student status will remain valid for your entire exchange period.

International student

  • The disability officer will create a file for you for which you need to provide the following documents:

    • a completed request form;

    • a certificate from an expert (attending physician, occupational therapist, psychiatrist, ...)

  • Please contact your disability officer to find out which certificates are needed.
  • All personal information is treated with the utmost confidentiality. The disability officers will not disclose any personal information to others without your explicit consent.

Inclusive examination facilities

As part of our institution-wide basic care policy, 6 inclusive exam facilities are guaranteed for each Odisee student:

  • Additional time (1/3) for a written exam
  • Additional preparation time for oral exams (upon prior request). This does not apply to practical exams without preparation time.
  • Exam questions can be read out to you
  • Language errors will only be taken into account in the evaluation when correct language use (including correct spelling) is included in the ECTS-file of the course.
  • Using a simple pocket calculator for basic operations (unless this is a core objective of the course)
  • Permission to eat and drink something small on the exam (e.g. dextrose, small dry snack).

These facilities may be sufficient for you to overcome any difficulties. In that case you don’t need to apply for a special status.

However, if you are in need of additional facilities or support (e.g. exam facilities such as taking exams with reading software, enlarging exam copy, spreading the exams, taking exams (partly) orally, taking exams in a separate room; and/or educational facilities such as postponing certain deadlines, consultation with the internship coordinator, ...), make sure that you schedule an appointment with the disability officer to review this together.

This institution has not provided information about if the procedure applies for both local and international students
